Both born in 1926 , Eleanor and Frank Turner were married at the age of 22 and stayed for nearly 65 years . The couple of 87 years died a few hours apart last Friday , as recounted the "Charlotte Observer" . They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Dec. 24 .
They met at a car dealership in Charlotte ( North Carolina ) . Eleanor worked as a secretary. Frank , who came from Illinois to take a position at the American Associated Press, looking to buy a car. When a salesperson asks him if he wants to test the car, Frank replied: " Yes, but only if I can take the secretary ." The couple married a few months later.
"They loved each other, and you could tell they were proud to go out together ," said their daughter Linda Purser . "They were made for each other . "
At the end of his life , Eleanor , who was showing signs of dementia, was placed under house medicalized . "Dad could not bear to be separated from her ," said Linda Purser . " He was trying to drive to see her, but was lost , also reached dementia ." A few months later , the couple were placed together in a retirement home .
Eleanor could not walk , but Frank helped her get her what she needed. " He did everything for her because he loved her . And she loved him too ."
Saddened by the death of his parents , Linda Purser welcomes nevertheless they do not have to live without the other.
