About 200,000 pro-European opponents gathered Sunday, December 15 on Independence Square in central Kiev, where for nearly a month rumbles protest against Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.
The movement was born after the Ukrainian government has abandoned plans to sign an association agreement proposed by the European Union on 21 November. The head of state is accused by his critics of wanting to "sell" the country to Russia.
At noon local time (11:00 in Paris), the place was packed with people, and demonstrators continued to arrive for the new mass demonstration held after those of the two previous Sundays. The latter had already mobilized hundreds of thousands of demonstrators.
That same Sunday, supporters of the head of state held a rally against, as they have already done Saturday.
