Yet the course of this 52 year old Scotch has not been easy . Adored by some, Susan Boyle has been the subject of much criticism. In an interview with The Observer, the singer has returned to these criticisms. " Some newspapers said I had a problem in the brain ," recalls the singer who says be reached Asperger syndrome , a form of autism which results including difficulties in communicating with people.

This is a doctor who diagnosed the disease last year. Since then, Susan Boyle admits feeling more " relieved " . " Now I understand better what was wrong with me," she continues . "I would say I had relationship problems , I had difficulty communicating , which was very frustrating. If people were a little more patient, it would have helped ," says the singer. Now that she has brought to light her illness, Susan Boyle is now hoping that people are more tolerant with it and they understand it better. " Asperger's Syndrome does not define me ," concludes the singer also admits now feel stronger with the support of his family.
