Are You Inadvertently Sabotaging Your Diet?

We all realize that the most effective foods for our diets are lean meats, whole grains and healthy fats. These will be the foods that give us protein and also energy. They help our bodies remain balanced without infusing lots of calories that we will need to work extra hard to burn off at the gym. Did you know, though, that a few of the foods you are eating that are supposed to be perfectly fine by dietary standards, could be keeping you from losing weight at a good pace? They could possibly be even adding fat laden calories to your body! Check out a few of the food items that might be helping you to accidentally sabotage your diet.

Sports Drinks are not helping you at all. You've almost certainly been told that if you wish to help your body rejuvenate itself after a work out, you should drink a sports drink. Many medical professionals agree, nevertheless, that if your exercise routine is less than ninety minutes, water is a fine way to do this. Sports drinks are rich in calories and sugar and a bunch of other stuff like artificial flavors and colors that will defeat any of your attempts at eating a natural and healthy diet. Try having some chocolate milk instead. The sugars in the chocolate can help your muscles start to heal and the calcium in milk keeps your bones strong.

Protein Shakes are not a person's friend. Lots of people feel that protein shakes can be used instead of meals and to curb cravings between meals. When you happen to be eating an otherwise healthy diet, however, a protein shake simply sends you into protein overdose. Contrary to popular opinion, protein isn't going to get kept as muscle, it gets stored as fat. This means that when you have taken in an excessive amount of protein during the day your body stores what it doesn't need in your fat, which won't help you lose weight or inches at all.



Pre-packaged deli meat isn't as good for you as you might think. It's generally thought that a sandwich constructed of whole grain bread along with lean pre-packaged deli meat is a pretty good lunch time item. The real truth is that pre-packaged deli meat is loaded full of preservatives along with about a third of your advised daily sodium intake. This could be specifically tricky if you are prone to heart disease. Instead of getting the pre-packaged products, you ought to instead use home cooked poultry or freshly sliced meat from your grocery store's deli counter. Sure they are extra expensive options but they are quite a lot healthier for you.

There are all kinds of things that we assume will help us lose weight: eating a whole wheat bagel in the morning, for example is actually a lot worse for you than a bowl of oatmeal with some cinnamon sprinkled into it for flavor.
